Good News Loveland: 14th Street SW Will Soon Have a Turn Lane

Good news for Loveland residents and those that drive west on 14^th Street SW at Taft! The City of Loveland will soon be working on adding a right-hand turn lane on 14^th Street SW to turn onto Taft. 

Construction begins in April to add a turn lane adjacent to the southwest corner of the former HP/Agilent property—now Rocky Mountain Center for Innovation and Technology (RMCIT).  Roadway capacity will increase, waiting time will be reduced and the severely rutted pavement on the westbound approach to the intersection will be replaced.

Adding the right-turn lane will require the removal of 13 mature trees.  Six new trees and nine new shrubs will be planted in the remaining space alongside the turn lane.

The completed project will retain the bike lanes on Taft Avenue and 14^th Street SW.

The $300,000 project cost is being paid from existing Capital Expansion Fees collected from developers when new homes and businesses are built. 

Along with the improved capacity of the intersection and decreased wait time for motorists, the new lane will reduce associated noise and air pollution at the intersection.
