Give Your Dog an Extra Hug for National Dog Day Today [PICTURES]

Today is National Dog Day. This is the day to pay tribute to our four legged friends. I am so blessed to have such wonderful canine companions in my life. I have had some great dogs through the years. My pug Oprah and my little mutt Chevy are joys to come home to. They are always there to greet you and wag their tails in excitement just to see your face. What a treat that is.

I am so lucky to get to watch the relationship between my grandkids and the dogs. There is something special about a child and a pet. I love how they love each other.

The greatest dog I ever had was my very first one. He was an Australian Shepard/Husky mix named Sinatra. He made my life so much better and taught me a new kind of love and appreciation. I had never had a pet before and he was just something special. I still think of him whenever the snow falls. He loved going out and frolicking in the snow. Even when he was old and could barely move, when the snow would fall, he would become a puppy again and start jumping around. I sure miss that dog. Give your puppy an extra scoop of love today and thank them for all the joy they bring.
