After one man read the story of James Robertson, he took to the web to help this dedicated man who was walking 21 miles a day to and from work. James Robertson, a factory worker in Detroit, caught the attention of local media when he was walking 21 miles to and from his job every day after his car broke down... Robertson has also never missed a day of work.

Robertson told Today, "I didn't want to end up doing nothing. Do you know how long it took me to find this job?" His journey does include a short bus ride, however the majority of the trek is on foot. Robertson's shift is from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., with his travels, he gets home by 4 a.m., gets a few hours of sleep and is back up at 6 a.m.

A Wayne State University student by the name of Evan Leedy, read about Robertson when  a Detroit Free Press article reached Facebook. Leeds decided he had to do something for this dedicated man who was dealing with the inability to fix his car making $10.55 an hour. What Leedy decided to do was to start a GoFundMe page with the goal of raising $5,000. When happened is truly an inspiration of the human spirit. Within the first hour, $2,000 had been raised... by the end of the day Monday, $37,000... and as of the time of this article, in only 2 day, they have raised over $250,000 and counting!

Robertson, who lives with his girlfriend of 15 years, is a private person and is also known for being the kind of person you can depend on... his girlfriend says he's "a good man." I love seeing someone taking the initiative to help someone who shows the dedication and work ethic that deserves this kind of help. Mr. Robertson didn't sit and wallow when he was handed a difficult situation, and he didn't go out asking for a handout. He did what he needed to do, people took notice and he has been rewarded for his character.
