Bev Moser

Sunday evening (October 16), the best of the best in Nashville’s songwriting community gathered at the Renaissance Hotel in the heart of Music City, where dozens of tunesmiths were recognized at the 41st Anniversary Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony. The top honors at the invite-only event went to Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, John Bettis, Thom Schuyler and Allen Shamblin, who were all inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

During the night’s honors, the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame’s sister organization, the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), presented its annual Songwriter Achievement Awards. The Band Perry‘s triple-platinum single ‘If I Die Young’ was voted as Song of the Year, while Chris DuBois took home Songwriter of the Year. DuBois is the man behind many of Brad Paisley‘s biggest career hits, including ‘Remind Me,’ ‘Old Alabama,’ ‘Water,’ ‘Anything Like Me,’ and his latest single, ‘Camouflage.’ For the fourth consecutive year, Taylor Swift was named the Songwriter/Artist of the Year.

In addition to honoring the top song, songwriter and songwriter/artist within the Nashville community, the NSAI’s Professional Songwriters Division also singled out 10 songs and their writers for ‘The Songs I Wish I’d Written’ category. Winners for this award were as follows:
