The Galena fire west of Horsetooth Reservoir is believed to be 75% contained. The Fire is now estimated at 1348 acres. There has been minimal growth in the fire. The higher estimate is based on better mapping.

The number of fire personnel involved now is around 130. Two Type 2 helicopters were on scene yesterday and operated for a short time before being grounded by the high winds. Fire officials hope to use them again today.

Officials say the cause and origin was human caused but NOT the result of a campfire, controlled burn, or escaped prescribed burn. No park facilities have reopened and area residents should remain alert to changing conditions.
