Boyd Lake State Park is a beautiful spot on the northeast corner of Loveland.  The park has released their August program schedule. All programs and their materials are free and open to the public. However, all vehicles entering Boyd Lake State Park must purchase an $8 daily pass or an annual pass good to all 42 Colorado State Parks for $70.

Campfire Nights - Aquatic Ecology of Boyd Lake State Park
7 to 8:30 p.m.


Meet at the Heinricy Parking Lot at the very south end of the park, right next to the Cottonwood Campground, at 7 p.m.  Afterwards you will walk over to the campground to roast marshmallows.

Campfire Nights - Urban Wildlife

Fire Safety
12 noon to 1 p.m.

Meet at the A/B Building in the Cottonwood Campground for an afternoon of fun!

Entertaining Campfire Stories for the Whole Family
7 to 8 p.m

Meet at the A/B building at the group campfire ring in the Cottonwood Campground. Marshmallows will be provided.


Friday, August 16: Campfire Nights
History of Boyd Lake
7 to 9 p.m.

Meet at the campfire ring near the A/B Building in the Cottonwood Campground. Bring camp chairs, blankets, and water. Those who choose to go on the night walk after the campfire program must wear closed toe shoes.


Saturday, August 17
Edible & Medicinal Plant Walk
9 to 10 a.m.

Learn to identify plant species and how to prepare some of these plants. Meet at the Swim Beach Pavilion at 9 a.m.


Friday, August 23
Campfire Nights - Creatures of the Night
7 to 10 p.m.

Meet at the campfire ring near the A/B Building in the Cottonwood Campground. Bring camp chairs, blankets, and water. Those who choose to go on the night walk must wear closed toe shoes.


Saturday, August 24
Night Sky Viewing
9 p.m.

Gather for night sky viewing with telescopes at the Heinricy parking lot on the south end of the park at 9 pm. Bring camp chairs, blankets, and water.


Friday, August 30
Campfire Nights - Emergency Response and Preparedness
7 to 8 p.m.

This class does NOT lead to any certifications, it is simply an introduction. Meet at the Cottonwood Campground Fire Ring next to the A/B Building.


Saturday, August 31
Fishing Clinic
9 a.m. to 1 p.m
.

The event is aimed at children ages 5-16, however anyone is welcome to join in the fun. Parents or participants above the age of 16 must have a fishing license. Loaner poles and bait will be provided. Be sure to reserve your spot and pole by emailing dnr_interp.boydlake@state.co.us or calling (970) 669-1739 ext. 19. Meet at the Heinricy Parking Area on the very south end of the park.
