National Doughnut Day is on Friday, and two local doughnut businesses are taking advantage of the day and giving back to their customers with free product throughout the day.

Here's where you can celebrate with a free doughnut on Friday:

Dunkin Donuts:

The national chain will be handing out free donuts during the day with the purchase of a beverage

Lamar's Donuts:

Lamar's is actually teaming up with the Salvation Army to help raise money during the day. According to the Coloradoan, donation kettles will be setup in each of the two Fort Collins locations on Friday along with other locations throughout the state.

A portion of this week's sales will also go towards the Salvation Army to support programs that provide meals to children in need.

Customers don't need to make a purchase on Friday at Lamar's to get a free doughnut. The offer is good for any regular doughnut that is available throughout the day.

The article states that National Doughnut Day is celebrated the first Friday of June, a tradition dating to 1917, when women Salvation Army volunteers known as "Lassies" made doughnuts for soldiers on the front lines of World War I.
