Ft Collins to Have Event to Collect Household Hazardous Waste

One of the biggest things having a negative impact on our environment is people not knowing how to properly dispose of household hazardous materials. To help with this, the city of Fort Collins is hosting a free event to collect such items. Many people don't know exactly how to dispose of some items that are dangerous to humans and wildlife. Because of this, some hazardous materials end up being poured down the drain or tossed in the trash, ending up at ill-equipped treatment plants or landfills.

This free event will be held on May 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Northwest corner of Lake Street and College Avenue on the Colorado State University campus. According to the Coloradoan, local households can bring a limit of 30 gallons of waste.

Accepted Items:

Pesticides, painting materials, cleaning products, automotive fluids, household batteries, CFL light bulbs, personal hygiene care products, and items containing mercury.
