If you're from Fort Collins, you know what a 'U+2' law is. If you're not, no, this law has nothing to do with putting your songs into an iTunes library without consent (ha ha OK, now that's out of the way...).

According to Rob White of the Coloradoan, '...the city’s Neighborhood Services division is preparing for a Jan. 1 start to a 'proactive patrol' of the Avery Park neighborhood near campus in an attempt weed out violators.'

So, here is my two cents. When I was a student at CSU, you could easily violate U+2, as long as you didn't get busted for hosting loud parties, or just being inconsiderate neighbors. 'Proactive patrols' seem ridiculous.

With rising rent in Fort Collins, the housing situation is getting completely out of control. I understand not packing ten college students into an apartment to divide rent. Obviously, that isn't safe, or great for Fort Collins neighborhoods. But no more than three unrelated tenants? We've been talking about how absurd that is since I moved here in 2010 (and I'm sure it was an issue well before that), especially because so many homes can easily accommodate more than three people.

That's just my opinion as a broke twenty-something who can't afford to live anywhere, though.

What do you think?
