Fort Collins Put on Alert: Storm Watch Turned to Warning
The biggest difference between a watch and a warning is simple: a Watch means that conditions are favorable for dangerous weather and a Warning means that dangerous weather IS threatening the area.
The National Weather Service has upgraded our Winter Storm Watch to a Warning effective from 9pm this evening through 6pm tomorrow (Tuesday) evening.
"According to the weather service, rain moving across the area is forecast to change to snow sometime mid-evening. Heavy snow is expected to taper off slightly overnight, then intensify in the early morning hours continuing through the day Tuesday. Forecasters are calling for 6 to 11 inches of accumulation."
The weather service would caution travelers to be out in the potential weather, but reminds you that if you do need to travel to take precautions and pack food, water, blankets and a flashlight.
This Warning DOES effect both Larimer and Weld Counties.
