Fort Collins Police detectives have a problem on their hands. Two rifles were stolen from 2 police vehicles Friday morning.

UPDATED 4:00 p.m. Tuesday October 28, 2014

Carlos Javier Chaves, 27, was arrested during a traffic stop Saturday in Arapahoe County. Police are not saying what the connection is between the robbery and Chaves. They also have not recovered any of the ammunition.

The original story is below.

As the Denver Channel reported, Fort Collins Police are investigating the theft.

So two questions I have here:

1. Who has the balls (excuse my language) to steal from the Police?

2. Who do the Police call when they have a theft (Sorry I couldn't resist that one)?

The incident happened Friday morning, in northeast Fort Collins. The officers found two vehicles had been broken into, according to a press release from Fort Collins Police Services.

Police say that both rifles were stored in a rifle lock inside the passenger compartment of the cars when they were removed.

Anyone with information about the theft can call Sergeant Paul Wood at 970-221-6132 or Crime Stoppers of Larimer County at 970-221-6868.
