Fort Collins police descended in force Thursday (March 17, 2016) after a man reported that he was armed and had killed two people.

According to the Coloradoan, the unknown caller contacted the Larimer County Sheriff's Office at 4:11 p.m., claiming to have killed two people in a home located in the area of Sherwood and Laurel streets.

Authorities in tactical gear with over a dozen police vehicles shut down the area for about an hour as they searched for the reported suspect and victims. Eventually it was determined to be a hoax when the alleged people that were reported as killed were contacted and made sure of being safe. The "all clear" was given at 5:10 p.m., and now police are investigating to find who made the call.
