Fort Collins Police Assistant Chief Cory Christensen has been named Chief of Police in Steamboat Springs.

Christensen’s law enforcement career spans more than 26 years and includes service as a Patrol Deputy, Internal Affairs Sergeant, Sergeant of Major Crimes Unit, K9 Unit Commander, SWAT Commander, Watch Commander, Investigations Lieutenant, and Deputy Chief for Information Services. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Denver, Bachelor of Science, and Master of Science from Colorado State University in Leadership and Organizational Studies. He also graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Christensen was selected as the top candidate out of 94 applicants and 5 finalists. He will begin leading Steamboat Springs Police on November 16, 2015.
