Labor Day, just as Memorial Day has a lot more meaning than just outdoor bar-b-ques and corn hole. Our country thrives with memories on these days, memories of who we were, who we are today and how we got here.

Labor Day: How it Came About; What it Means

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

There will still be plenty to do in the great town of Fort Collins on Monday with many businesses remaining open and plenty of restaurants to create a perfect shopping, exploring and dining experience.

City Park Pool will open from 10 am-3:30 pm. The Gardens on Spring Creek will be open from 10-2 and the Northside Aztlan Community Center as well as the Senior Center will be open from 6 am till noon.

All city offices and facilities will resume business Tuesday September 4, 2012 with regular hours.
