Fort Collins Free Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event Til 3 p.m. Today

Do you have some old batteries or paint or fluorescent lights you need to get rid of? The City of Fort Collins is teaming up with CSU for the “Free Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event” today until 3 p.m. Yes, you just have a couple hours to drop your stuff off at the Parking lot at the corner of Lake and College on the CSU Campus.
Drop Off Unwanted Household Chemicals
- (non-leaking) household batteries
- paint and pesticides
- compact fluorescent lights
- cleaning and automotive products
- mercury-containing items (thermostat and appliance switches, thermometers, button-shaped batteries)
Items not accepted:
- Explosives
- Asbestos
- Bio-waste (needles, bandages)
- Pharmaceuticals
Limit of 30 gallons per household.
If you miss out on the collection event today, the city offers some other disposal options.

The Greeley Stampede is coming up, and you know what that means. Corndogs, cowboy hats, concerts, and cars. One of the best parts of the 10-day festival is the demolition derby. Hundreds (yes, hundreds) of drivers will partake in the destructive chaos. This year's demolition derby will take place on July 7th at 2:00 PM, and tickets cost $20-25.
