Remember a couple months ago, when I shared news that Fort Collins might ban smoking on restaurant patios?  Well, it looks like "might" just turned into "will."

The City Council on Tuesday gave initial approval to an ordinance that would ban smoking on outdoor patios and decks. In addition, smoking would be prohibited within 20 feet of public open-air dining and drinking areas. The measure passed unanimously.

If the new ordinance passes a final review, it could take effect as early as Jan. 1.

Under the ordinance, smoking will also be banned at outdoor bus stations and benches within the city limits.

Speaking as a non-smoker who hates secondhand smoke, I'll admit I'm glad Fort Collins is heading in this direction.

But what do YOU think?  Let us know in the comments...
