Jay Clementi is a former football star who played for the University of Northern Colorado from 1990-94 and was part of the glory years of that program. Jay was also an intern here at K99 and we always refer to him as the worst intern ever. He will argue that point.

Jay went off to Nashville years ago to be a star. He has one of most beautiful voices I have ever heard and was sure he was going to be huge recording star. Jay found that aside from being an expert fisherman, he is also one heck of a songwriter. He has become so good at his craft that the likes of Sara Evans, Martina McBride, Dierks Bentley, Darius Rucker, Sunny Sweeney, and Luke Bryan have recorded his songs, to name a few.

Jay and Luke Bryan are big time fishing buddies and hang out together quite often. They love to write together as well. Jay even has two songs that he co-wrote that are featured on Luke's new album "Kill the Lights".

One of the greatest things that Jay has done with his skills is helping our veterans. Jay is part of a program called "Soldier's Songs, Songwriting with Soldiers". He is one of a group of songwriters who sit down with our men and women in uniform and help them heal from what they have had to live with and put it in words and music. It is an amazing program and Jay says it is the best thing he has ever done. We are so proud of our Colorado boy and all of his success. Keep it rocking Jay. We always knew you had it in you.

Here are a few of the cuts Jay has written over the years.

These two are on the new Luke album.

Here is one that Darius Rucker recorded.
