We are proud to call Jay Clementi our friend. Jay was a wide receiver for the UNC Bears from 90-94 and was a part some great teams at UNC. He was also an intern here at K99 for awhile and I must say, he may have been the worst intern we have ever had. Jay was great on the football field but was awful in the office. He has turned out to be a force in the country music industry as a songwriter though.

Jay is one of the most gifted singer/songwriters I have ever met. He moved to Nashville years ago to follow his dream of being a country star. I am still perplexed why he wasn't signed to major deal as a singer because he has one of the most gorgeous voices I have ever heard but he has made his name as a songwriter. He has written songs for Darius Rucker, Luke Bryan, Martina McBride, Dierks Bentley and wrote the big hit for Sunny Sweeney "Staying's Worse Than Leaving".

The thing I am most proud of Jay for is his latest venture of writing songs with soldiers to help them heal. He was on the HLN network last night. It was Stories of Courage Soldiers' Songs. I was moved to tears as I watched this. What an amazing show and incredible project this is. You can feel and see the emotion as these heroes get a chance to get out what is inside of them through the power of music. I am proud to call Jay my friend. Check your local listing to see when this show may be repeated in your area. Here is a clip from last night.
