A former employee at the Larimer County Jail was issued a summons for a misdemeanor charge following an internal investigation.

According to a news release from the Larimer County Sheriff's Office, employee Bethanie Williamson, 37, is accused of allegedly violating policies regarding inmate movement, prompting an internal investigation on January 25.

In addition to policy violations, the internal investigation showed Williamson accessed contact information of a victim in a court case via a controlled government information system in the presence of the inmate who is the suspect in a case involving that victim. She had no legitimate business reason to access that information.

A criminal investigation was then launched and Williamson was placed on administrative leave.

On February 23, criminal investigators consulted with the Larimer County District Attorney's Office and the following charge was applicable: C.R.S. 18-5.5-102 Computer Crime (Class 2 Misdemeanor).

Williamson resigned from employment with LCSO on February 27 prior to completion of the internal investigation and determination of disciplinary action. She was issued a summons for the above misdemeanor charge.

Williamson began employment at LCSO in 2007 as a non-certified jail deputy.
