Flash flooding in Fort Collins caused water to rise to the bumper of some cars on the sides of some roads and intersections yesterday afternoon. A cloudy day gave way to intense rain squalls late yesterday afternoon. Flash flood warnings were issued by the National Weather Service, and low lying areas of the streets quickly filled with water.

Some intersections were completely covered with water, causing nervous motorists to slow, which in turn backed traffic up in some busy intersections.

The Emergency Alert System connected to the National Weather Service with TRI 102.5 issued severe thunderstorms warnings and flash flood warnings for areas from the city of Laramie to Larimer and Weld Counties.
