Cute little guys, aren't they? Five African pygmy hedgehogs were born in the Denver Zoo’s Education Department on January 22. Parry, Rose, Poppy, Holly and Acacia were born to mother, Dania, and father, Harvey, in the Gates Education Center.

Unfortunately, the hedgehogs will not be on exhibit, but will be used for outreach and other programs.

My wife wants me to bring one home. I,on the other hand, don't see hedgehogs in my future.

African pygmy hedgehogs are a small species and only grow to weigh about 24 ounces as adults. They are native to the grasslands of west, east and central Africa and are classified as “least concern” by the International Union For Conservation.
