Ring in the New Year with the 18th annual First Night Fort Collins presented by The ToothZone! Enjoy the wonderful and diverse entertainment presented at this non-alcoholic New Year's Eve celebration. First Night Fort Collins 2014 promises new performing acts, storytelling, history, interactive craft projects, old favorites, street performers, international dancing and much more.

The evening’s revelry will kick off with confetti and song with the Kids’ Countdown at 5:00pm in Old Town Square, all venues open at 6:00pm and the night concludes with a festive display of fireworks in Old Town Square at 10:30pm.

Amazing Dave Magic Show

Amazing Dave will be performing moonlight magic. Magic ranges from the beautiful six silver rings to ridiculous antics of their cast of bunnies and birds. Laugh as Dave takes on a hilarious straight jacket escape. Magic and laughter for old and young alike.

Balloon Drop

Kiddos will enjoy this enormous balloon filled with tons of tiny balloons. Come have fun popping them under your feet.

Bruiser the Ragdog

Bruiser the Ragdog puppet meets everyone on the street. He barks, poses for pictures and does tricks on command. This big, huggable, lovable dog is ready to jump into your heart. Visit him around Old Town Square between 6:30– 8:30 pm.

Capoeira Canavial Dance Show

Capoeira is a traditional fighting/dance style from Brazil. Let this show take you to a Brazilian village, where village people work in sugar cane plantations and by night,
under the moon, people relax and recreate. Until one moonless night, the village is attacked and plundered by some wild warriors. This show is full of drumming, dance, martial arts, and acrobatics. Audiences will also have a chance to join in and learn some samba steps.

Choice City Singers – Moon Songs

This magical a-cappella, vocal stylings of the Choice City Singers blended with an enchanting mix of favorite jazz, pop, doo-wop songs and fun. The show will provide the perfect potion to lift spirits over the moon and into a bright new year.

Debut Theater- Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz

In this audience participation version of "The Wizard of Oz". Dorothy finds herself over the rainbow and meeting the Good witch, Glinda. All of your favorite characters are here. The children oil the Tin Man, stuff the Scarecrow, calm the Cowardly Lion's tail, and portray the forest that hides them from the Wicked Witch of the West. Lots of participation for little... and big... Munchkins!

Devil Dan’s Hilarious Show!

The Paddle Ball Guru! Devil Dan was a "Top Busker Pick" in the 2012 Christchurch Buskers Festival. As part of the Handsome Little Devils he traveled the world and even made a stop on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno! The press called Devil Dan: "Paddle ball silliness with a dash of early Steve Martin." This show is fast paced, skillful, and delightfully different! He's gentle like a jellyfish, yet strong like a monkey. Spend a little time with Devil Dan, you'll see. Come laugh at Devil Dan’s antics!

Empty Pockets Celtic Trio

Amazing musical things often happen when Dave Migoya and Richard Gee together perform their renditions of traditional and contemporary Celtic tunes and songs from Ireland, Scotland and Spain. With more than 90 years of musical experience between them that runs from Los Angeles to New York, they share a virtuosity that will leave you hoping they'll play another.

Exquisite Brass “Name that Moon”

The Exquisite Brass quintet will play an entire evening worth of songs about the moon. Audience members are encouraged to “Name that Tune” and participate in other game show activities as they unveil each new moon song.

Fale - African Drum & Dance

Come on a cultural “voyage” of traditional African drumming, dancing, folklore, and fun! Through high-energy dance and live drumming, you’ll experience tales of the moon under an African sky. Come feel the pulse of Africa!

Family Comedy Game Show!

Join Bryce Jackman, family comedian, as he presents an evening under the Magical Moon with family fun. Classic TV family game shows. Three different family shows to enjoy. Sixty Seconds to Win, Old Fashion Concentration and Squirm Factor, featuring live animals. An evening filled with laughter, prizes and fun for the whole family.

Fireworks Show

Start your New Year with a bang! First Night Fort Collins concludes with a firework finale at 10:30 pm. Gather in Old Town Square to experience highland bag piping and drumming by the Northern Colorado Caledonia Pipe Band as the sparks light up the night sky. The fireworks show can be viewed from Old Town Square or along E. Mountain Ave as it will
be shot off of the roof of the Old Town Parking Structure this year.

Guided Historic Walking Tour

Discover Downtown Fort Collins, as your guide Lynda takes you on a journey through Old Town. Enjoy stories of early Fort Collins residents while strolling past the old buildings they inhabited in the 1800’s. These historic guided walking tours are appealing to all ages. Tours meet in lobby of the Opera Galleria and last about forty-five minutes.

Handsome Little Devils’ “Conjure”

“Conjure” is an original comedy featuring Copperfield-style illusions, hilarious characters and a hint of tragedy. The Handsome Little Devils have collaborated with director Joseph Wartnerchaney and the Manhattan Creative Group to create this magical, comedic and stunning show. I Dreamed I was a Ballerina

I Dreamed I was a Ballerina is an original ballet by Amy Hughes and Amber Mazurana based on the paintings of Edger Dega. Under the direction of Teri English, the Canyon Concert Ballet Youth Ensemble performs this entertaining and enchanting evening of

Improv Comedy – Comedy Brewers Improv

Experience some of our city’s best acting talent as the Comedy Brewers perform hilarious improv skits. This evening of comedy combines fast-paced, hilarious, improv games with intricate improv situations. Come be part of the audience to build rich characters, absurd situations and non-stop laughter.

Jerry the Janitor - Science Toy Magic (wandering)

Matt Hannifin will appear as “Jerry the Janitor” in Old Town Square near the Science Toy Magic store. “Jerry the Janitor” is the unicycling janitor who leaves your space messier when he’s finished than it was when he started! “Magic Science Guy” pulls science out of his wizard’s robe to amaze even the most sophisticated scientist!

Jon Gates Yo Yo Show

For over 25 years, Jon Gates has traveled the world and entertained audiences with his spinning tops and Yo-Yos. Prepare to be amazed as Jon demonstrates his mastery of spinning toys.

Kalama Polynesian Dancers

Professional Polynesian dancers and drummers will take you a journey through the islands of Polynesia – Hawaii, New Zealand, Tahiti, and Samoa. Come to the Polynesia and watch the Kalama dancers as they tell the legend Maui and Tuna. This Polynesian legend is passed down from generation to generation about battle, love, and how all the ocean’s creatures were made. High energy dance show, spanning all diverse Polynesian influences.

Kids' Countdown

Kick off the evening with songs, laughter, a countdown, and confetti! Join the talented Beth Epley as she engages children in stories, improvisational games, and high-energy interactive music. Show will conclude with kids throwing confetti to kick things off! Meet at the stage in Old Town Square at 5:00 pm.

Liz Masterson & Western Fiddle Songs

Liz Masterson and her sidekicks, Cinnamon Sue and Pecos Peggy, combine yodeling, mandolin fiddle, guitar, western harmonies and humor to get you “back in the saddle again” and take you on a musical ride under the “Moonlight on the River Colorado”. Cowgirl songs, barn dance fiddle tunes and family fun.

Masonic Lodge Event Center

First Night Fort Collins is pleased to partner with the Fort Collins Masons in the use of their historic home. Visit the Masonic Lodge to have your face painted and to experience live performances by Fale - African Drum & Dance, the Kalama Polynesian Dancers, and a Western Rope Trick Show. Also, be sure to check out the Family Comedy Game Show. And don’t forget to visit their museum where you can learn about the ancient secrets of the Masons!

New Year’s Eve Arts & Crafts

Surround yourself with creativity! Build your very own 3-D magical star, create an interactive paper toy of the “Cow who jumped over the moon!” or play with moon sand!
Stop by the Mountain View Community Church or the Northside Aztlan Center to make your own project. Crafts are a self-guided, drop-in activity.

Northern Colorado Caledonia Pipe Band

A First Night favorite! The Northern Colorado Caledonia Pipe Band features Scottish bagpipe and drum music. Come watch their musical show at the Opera Galleria before traveling over to Old Town Square for a live performance before the fireworks show at 10:30 pm.

Otterbox Digital Theater Shows - “The Sky Tonight”

What's up in the sky tonight? Join us for a live presentation where you can learn about the constellations, planets, and celestial events you can observe from your own back yard. Limited seating, available on a first come, first served basis. Shows at 6:00, 6:45, 7:30, 8:15 and 9:00pm.

Peter & the Wolf Interactive Play

Enjoy the classic tale of Peter and the Wolf! “Peter” will lead the young members of the audience in song, music and dance, together creating a fun and playful performance. Presto-Digitators Magic Show Let the magic begin! Come be a part of the magical world of the Presto-Digitators! Under the spell of the magical moon audiences will be amazed by different magic tricks, mind-blowing illusions and more!

PVH/University of Colorado Health’s Bounce Land - Inflatables

Bounce your way into the New Year on an “enchanted” Disney themed bouncy castle, or take a run through the inflatable obstacle course. Bounce Land is located in the Northside Aztlan Community Center gymnasium. (All shoes must be removed in the gym and on the inflatables).

PVH/University of Colorado Health’s Face Painting

Your night of artistic celebration wouldn’t be complete without a celestial design to adorn your face. Letyour imagination take you on a journey with magical stars, moons, mythical magical creatures, and much more. Visit one of the amazingly talented face paint artists at the Masonic Lodge Event Center or the Northside Aztlan Center.

Wayne & Wingnut (ventriloquist)

The Young Ancients

First Night Debut! Their name says it all, the Young Ancients is a new rock and blues group comprised of some of Fort Collins most prominent musical figures. Steve Amedee, Cary Morin and John Magnie head up this new music group who will entertain First Night audiences for the first time at Everyday Joe’s Coffee.
