The first case of West Nile virus was reported in Larimer County this week.

According to a news release, a Loveland resident showed symptoms consistent with the infection, which was confirmed through blood tests. The unidentified resident was not hospitalized, but they likely contracted it during the last full week of May.

Mosquito trapping has already began this season in select parts of Larimer County, and testing for West Nile virus will begin next week.
