Even with the very moist week we just experienced, fire danger is still high and strict fire restrictions are in place throughout Memorial Day weekend for northern Colorado. According to the US Forest Service, the following is prohibited in Restricted Area #1 (all National Forest System lands within the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests on the Boulder, Canyon Lakes and Clear Creek Ranger Districts in the State of Colorado).

Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire or campfire, charcoal, coal, or wood stove, except within a developed recreation site in Restricted Area #1. 36 C.F.R. § 261.52(a).

Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable materials in Restricted Area #1. 36 C.F.R. § 261.52(d)

There are a few other restrictions. For the full list of restrictions click here.
