Residents of a Cheyenne apartment complex across from Cahill Park were displaced Wednesday after a fire broke out in one of the units.

City spokesman Scott Smith says firefighters were called to the 4600 block of Moran Avenue shortly before 3 p.m. after a passerby on Dell Range Boulevard reported smoke coming from the eight-plex.

Smith says firefighters were able to make quick work of the fire, but two of the apartments sustained heavy damage and the remaining units had smoke damage.

Luckily, no one was in the apartment where the fire broke out and none of the neighboring residents were injured in the blaze.

Smith says the American Red Cross is providing temporary housing to all of the residents.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
