An early morning fire in Fort Collins destroyed the Equine Reproductive Lab today at Colorado State University. Reports say that no people or animals were injured in the blaze which caused an estimated $9 million to $12 million.

Patrick Love, Poudre Fire Authority spokesman, said two ladder trucks responded to a fire call at about 1 a.m. and found flames reaching about 20 feet above the facility on CSU's Foothills campus at 3013 Rampart Road. Love said firefighters, students and faculty helped evacuate horses in a nearby building.

Love said the laboratory's roof collapsed and the building is likely to be considered a total loss. PFA investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the blaze.
