Tax time... It's that time of year that if you're lucky enough, you'll get a return. If you received a tax refund from the state of Colorado last year, you might have gotten a paper check instead of having your refund directly deposited into your bank account.

The reason why some were issued a live paper check in 2015 was due to identity theft and the Colorado Department of Revenue is saying that same is happening again this year. The stolen identities have been used to file fraudulent tax returns and according to the department spokeswoman, Ro Silva, live checks as well as other measures will be taken again this year. Silva also said that other states and the Internal Revenue Service are seeing similar issues and officials across the nation are working together to find a better solution.
