Additional Information

Decidedly unconventional theatre is returning to Fort Collins this month. The third Fort Collins Fringe Festival will be held in downtown Fort Collins on Thursday, August 27; Friday, August 28; Saturday, August 29 at the Museum of Discovery Dome Theatre, Library Park and the Community Creative Center/Carnegie Building. The 3-day event showcases 72 performances of original and experimental work by more than 75 local playwrights, choreographers and performers, including professional, amateur and student practitioners.

The Fort Collins Fringe Festival features productions by local creators performed by local artists, including performances integrating live dance and theatre with multimedia technology in the Museum of Discovery’s Otterbox Dome Theatre. One such piece: “A Life Between: The Story of Joseph Antoine Janis and First Elk Woman” is the story about one of Laporte’s founding fathers and is a collaboration between the Fort Collins Chamber Music Society, Actors’ Gym Collaborative and Museum of Discovery filmographers. The Fringe also presents outdoor performances at Library Park and pieces performed in the art gallery at the Community Creative Center.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday Performances run 6-9:30pm in the Dome Theatre (Fort Collins Museum of Discovery), 408 Mason Ct. and Community Creative Center, 200 Mathews St. On Saturday, Fringe Out: A Free Family Fringe event from 12:30-2:30pm at Library Park is free and open to the public. Tokens for each evening performance start at $2 each and are available in advance and at the door. Ticket information can be found on the Festival website. Audiences can also use tokens to vote for the Ace Gillett’s Audience Choice Award. The Downtown Artery hosts the Festival After-Party on Saturday, August 29 at 9:30pm.

Details and tickets to the performances and the schedule are available on the event’s website, www.fringefestivalfortcollins.com, or on the Facebook page, www.facebook.com/FortCollinsFringeFestival.
