Climbing Denali, North America’s Highest Mountain presented by Jim Disney

Have you ever imagined climbing a mountain so high the sky directly above is almost black in midday? Jim Disney did when he spent 20 days climbing 20,237 foot Denali Mountain in Alaska. Jim, a cofounder of the Loveland Mountain Club, climbed this magnificent mountain in 1981 via the difficult “West Rib” route. Through his pictures and presentation he will share the experience of his climb, from a ski plane landing on a glacier at the start of the journey, through the 20-day traverse from camp to camp up to the summit of the High One. Hear Jim explain coming to grips with a mountain that is almost incomprehensible in size as he takes his audience up this massive mountain of cold and beauty.

Jim will be presenting his journey at 6:30 p.m. on September 11 at the Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures. This event costs $5 to the public and is free for museum members.
