A police impersonator pulled over a driver Sunday night around 8 p.m. near the intersection of 11th avenue and Pleasant Acres Drive in Evans. The driver that was pulled over had their wallet stolen by the impersonator. The victim described the vehicle as an SUV with four doors, dark colored and possible plastic running boards. The description of the vehicle also included red and blue lights in the grille and on the dash. The victim was not able to give description of the police impersonator due to the use of a bright spotlight.

If you have any concerns about a traffic stop, a good suggestion is to pull into a well lit area so you are able to see the officers. Additionally, you can always ask for identification of the officer or call 9-1-1 to verify the legitimacy of the stop. If you have any information regarding the police impersonator, please contact Sergeant Dan Ranous at 970-475-1144.
