Leave it to Northern Colorado to get to host such a spectacular event. October in Estes Park is now known as "Elktober." So, this is the time of year to celebrate all of Estes Park's natural beauty and wildlife. The big event to do just that is Elk Fest, coming up at the end of September in Estes Park.

Elk Fest is September 29th and 30th at Bond Park. The free festival features bugling contests, elk exhibits, the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program, elk seminars, elk-inspired arts and crafts, Native American music, dancing and storytelling, a childrens' area with elk-themed activities, and a craft beer garden. There is live music both nights. You can get safe & respectful elk viewing tips at this Wildlife Watching page.

If you're one of the many lucky ones, you'll get to hear the amazing call of the bull elk, which fills the Estes Valley during the early days of fall.

According to the Elk Fest website.

Vendors will display artwork, handmade elk-ivory jewelry, and will offer distinctive elk cuisine.  Mountain men from around the country will gather at the Mountain Man Rendezvous to sell their wares and demonstrate their skills.
