An electrical fire injured a man yesterday morning at the 1st National Bank building at Boardwalk and College in Fort Collins.  An electrician was burned in the blaze that was extinguished by an activated fire sprinkler.

The injured electrician was immediately treated by Poudre Valley Hospital personnel then transported to Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland.

Fire damage was limited to the electrical room however smoke was found on all levels of the east wing of the building. Investigators are working to determine an origin and cause of the fire.

Poudre Fire Authority Crews remained on scene for at least two hours to assure the fire didn't spread and to clear the building of smoke.

According to a press release from Patrick Love of the Poudre Fire Authority:

The electrician was working in the electrical room. Firefighters responded to a call for an electrical fire in the garage area and an electrician that had been burned. Upon arrival firefighters found a four story commercial office building with heavy smoke coming from the electrical room located in the garage on the first floor. Firefighters could not immediately attack the fire due to the still energized electrical panels that were arcing. Fortunately the fire sprinkler system had activated and was extinguishing the fire along with keeping it from spreading.
