The Eaton Area Chamber of Commerce presents the 10th Annual Old Fashioned Christmas Celebration on Saturday, December 12 from 2-7 p.m. at the Eaton High School Commons on First St.

This free family-friendly event features a chili and chicken noodle soup supper, carnival games for all ages with prizes, a Live Nativity, a coloring contest with prizes, musical presentations by school choirs, and Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will be posing for photos and handing out candy sacks. There is also a 50/50 raffle with tickets being sold for $1 each.

The cutoff for lines to see Santa, face painting, the balloon artist, craft table and games will be 6 p.m. Winners of the raffle will be announced at 6:30 p.m. Santa departs from the gym at 6:30 allowing him time to ride in the Parade of Lights.

Parade of Lights

Following an afternoon of fun, the night is filled with lights, as the light parade ends the evening at 7 p.m. The parade staging area is the Eaton Middle School at 225 Juniper Ave. The route will head north on Juniper to Third St. where it will head east to Park Ave. At Park, the route heads south to First St., where it turns onto First St. west to Juniper Ave.

Parade entries should be submitted by Thursday, December 10, although late parade entries will be accommodated until 6:30 p.m. parade night. The parade form, along with the entire list of activities, may be found on the Eaton Chamber’s website.

Christmas Tour of Homes

Held in conjunction with Old Fashioned Christmas is the Eaton Area Historical Society’s Christmas Tour of Homes, their only fundraiser of the year. The tour is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $12 prior to the tour and are available at the A.J. Eaton House Museum, Eaton Vision Clinic, the Eaton Public Library, Kennedy Dental, The French Corner, Victoria’s Tea Room and Heritage Market; or $15 the day of the tour at any of the homes on tour. A list of the homes on tour, as well as the full schedule of events for Old Fashioned Christmas will be published in the Dec. 3 edition of The North Weld Herald.

Eaton Public Library Activities

The Eaton Public Library is hosting a number of activities, including Eaton Elementary School choir at 11 a.m., Vic Anderson, cowboy entertainer/singer/poet at 1 p.m., Eaton High School choirs at 2 p.m., and from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. the Friends of the Library Book Sale featuring gift baskets. Refreshments will be served throughout the day.
