There would be no Carrie Underwood or Miranda Lambert if it weren't for Trisha Yearwood, Patty Loveless and Reba. There would have been no Reba, Patty or Trisha if there it weren't for Loretta, Tammy and Patsy but who was the first real superstar female country vocalist?

On this date back in 1952 something happened that had never ever happened before...a woman had the number one country song in the land. It is always cool and historical to be the first to do something and the legendary Miss Kitty Wells was the barrier shattering singer who did it with her classic "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels".

To celebrate this historical occasion here is that song that did what had never been done before 65 years ago today. Thank you for kicking down the door Kitty.
