I rarely go to a movie because a suit told me it might be good or the masses say its a good or rotten tomato, so I was curious to know what you think and how you pick a flick for your movie date.

Do the Academy Awards Influence the Movies you See

The Academy Awards are just weeks away, will any of the movies you saw in 2012 be this year's winner? Will you go see winning movies because they won? The answer remains a mystery for me. I have seen many movies this past year, but did pass on a few that may be big winners this year. Will I go see them because they win, well, if I'm honest, maybe.

POTENTIAL WINNERS:

  • Les Miserables- An unforgettable story that takes us back to France and the 19th century starring Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman
  • Lincoln- starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Tommy Lee Jones and Sally Field as Mary, President Lincoln's wife. This movie takes you through some of the struggles of the President during the Civil War.
  • Argo-Directed by and starring Ben Affleck, not my favorite over the 2012 season, but worth a watch as we relive the events of freeing American hostages out of Revolutionary Iran.
  • The Life of Pi- From Academy Award winning Director, Ang Lee This movie, based on a best-selling novel engages us on a journey of life.

We'll have to wait a little while, not long, to find out who the winners will be, but we will find out all of the potential winners tomorrow morning. (Thursday, January 10th, 2013)

The 85th Academy Awards show will air on ABC February 24th, 2013.
