When an expansion costs in the millions, it's going to be big. When the cost is in the billions, well, it's going to be HUGE.

The Denver International Airport (DIA) will begin a $1.5 billion next week that will include 39 more gates across the three concourses with more concessions and "outdoor patios". There is no word yet where those patios will be located.

According to Fox 31-Denver, DIA is the sixth busiest airport in the country servicing about 58 million passengers a year. When it was built, it was designed to service 50 million. The new upgrade will push that number to about 80 million and the number of overall gates to 150.

They will break ground on this project on Tuesday, May 29th. The completed project is expected to be by spring 2021.
