Dennis Allen, who served as the Denver Broncos defensive coordinator this past season was announced as the new head coach of the Oakland Raiders {making him the 6th or 7th coach in less than a decade I do believe} and the Bronco's wasted no time filling the position.

No sooner did Allen depart that the Broncos announced the hire of recently fired Jack Del Rio to run the defense.  Del Rio was the recent head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars and also ran the defense under John Fox in Carolina back in 2002 and we all remember that was indeed a good year for the Panthers.

They turned a 1-15 team to a 7-9 team and allowed 18.9 points per game that year also finishing 2nd in the league with an average of 290.4 yards allowed per game. So Fox and Del Rio unite again...sounds like they are getting serious about some defense.  Or at least attempting to.

Del Rio was the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2003 to 2011. In addition to playing for the Saints, Del Rio spent time with Dallas, Kansas City and Minnesota during his playing career.
