Colorado stands to make millions hosting the 2016 Republican National Convention and Denver has a lot to offer the delegation. The Pepsi Center could be the main convention site, Coors Field and the Colorado Convention Center would serve many other needs.

According to the  Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Host Committee for the 2008 Republican National Convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul reported economic benefits totaling $170 million in new money for the local economy.

Denver is competing against Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, Dallas, Kansas City, Phoenix, and Las Vegas in the next phase of the selection process, which begins early next month.

The Site Selection Committee is expected to visit 3-5 finalist cities in the coming months. A final decision is expected in August.
