Fiery Crash Halts Daytona 500 For 2 Hours – Kenseth Wins Race [PICTURES]
Matt Kenseth held off Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Greg Biffle to win his 2nd Daytona 500. The race started under the lights last night because of number of rain delays, but didn’t finish until early this morning because of a fiery crash involving Juan Pablo Montoya. NASCAR delayed the race for 2 hours after Montoya slammed into a Jet Dryer Truck during a caution.
The race lasted over 6 hours. It was the 1st Daytona 500 ever moved to a 2nd day because of the weather.
A wreck in the 2nd lap kept Jimmy Johnson, Danica Patrick, and last year’s winner Trevor Bayne from being in contention.
Colorado driver Regan Smith finished 24th.
