Dan + Shay Celebrate Their First Number One Song With Brian Gary [VIDEO/AUDIO]

I am so proud today. My buddies Dan + Shay have the number one song in the country this week with "Nothin' Like You" and I couldn't be happier. We brought them in for a New From Nashville when they were first starting out a couple of years ago and I knew right then they were something special. I have been doing this for nearly 30 years and have never been happier for anyone to hit number one. These guys have worked their butts of for the success they are enjoying. They not only make great music but they treat their fans, and all of us in the industry, with respect and class.

I have made a lot good friends through my years in radio but when it comes to artists, Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney are the best friends I have made. Dan and I talk weekly about football and music and life. I am honored to have these two guys in my life. We have been watching this song climb the charts and realized that it had a chance to go number one, Dan told me that if it happened I would be the first one he called. Saturday night around midnight I got a call. I was already asleep but it was Dan + Shay calling to follow thorough on their promise of calling me to celebrate the big news. I wasn't going to share the call because it was just a call between friends, but I thought it was so cool I had to. Congrats guys!! You make me proud.
