It has been a full 5 weeks since my first workout with my trainer at the Fort Collins Club and Wednesday we broke out the scale and tape measure to see what kind of 'measurable' differences we could log.

You know my journey and the reason that it all began, but if this is the first you're hearing of it, I began this journey so that I could be healthy from the inside out. Although losing fat would be awesome, I want to be physically well so that I may be here for a while. I didn't always want to be here after my two youngest children were killed in a car accident, but since I have decided that my life needs to be lived.

In living my life I look forward to witnessing the marriages of my two eldest children, Zachariah and Natasha. I look forward to the day that I hold my first biological grand child. I have to add that biological word because I do have the most adorable little five-year-old grand daughter from my marriage to my James, her name is Isabella and she loves Elsa. I also look forward to hanging out with my James and lounging in the hammock after running five miles (or one) in our older years.

Okay, okay... the results are not as much as I had hoped for, but my trainer says that we have been 'training' my body to do things it hasn't done in awhile. I liken it to being on a roller coaster, the wait in line then the slow climb to the top before plummeting down. The toughest part is behind me in that I have developed new habits, physically and mentally.

I have lost 7.5 pounds and 2 inches and have gained self confidence. My core is a little weak still as I suffered an injury in my second workout that kept me from being able to really focus a lot of attention on the core without pain.

In the gym I have increased my endurance and strength. In some areas my improvement has crushed it at 30-percent. I can now bench press 95 pounds and leg press 280 pounds. I have increased the amount of push-ups I can do by 10 and shaved two whole minutes off of my mile. Yep, I can run a mile, at least 80 percent of the time running in 14:57, my first go round at running/walking the mile I came in at 16:59

My clothes are starting to fit better, my face is thinning out and that upper belly fat under the bra line is down. My trainer Sarah over stated the obvious when measuring me Wednesday and I had to laugh, she said you don't really have much fat to lose on your legs and arms, its mostly in your middle... duh, you think! :) I will continue the journey and can't wait for what the rest of it has to hold for me.

Next up, we really tackle my meal plans. As of today we have been slowly educating me more about saturated fats, sugars, portions and so on... Now we are ready to step that into a higher gear. It's important to approach this life change at a steady pace for longevity and overall success.

All and all, I am very pleased with my experiences at the Fort Collins Club and with my trainer Sarah. I feel very comfortable with my trainer and very at ease in the club.
