CSU Student Killed in Avalanche

A 26-year-old CSU student was killed in the avalanche on Cameron Pass over the weekend. When we reported the story yesterday no names had been released. The Jackson County Coroner identified the victim as Joseph Philpott of Fort Collins. 24-year-old Alex White survived after being buried for three hours and was taken to a Fort Collins-area hospital. His condition was not released. They were both caught in the slide in the Paradise Bowl on the west side of the Cameron Pass on Saturday. Officials believe a dog they had with them may have triggered the slide. There have been four avalanche deaths in Colorado this season. Read more from the Denver Post.
