It's called, "The Jungle," and lies in the heart of Silicone Valley, California. I hate to admit this, but they have no one to blame but themselves for the closure of this disgusting tent city.

I first heard about this tent city in California years ago and thought it was pretty cool at the time. Almost 300 people at one point inhabited over 68 acres in the heart of Silicone Valley, California carving their way into the landscape. It was fascinating to me that so many homeless people could live in one of the richest places in the country; Silicone Valley of course is home to some of the wealthiest people in the United States.

Well, today the run is over.

"The Jungle" as it's called, has been shut down, and, for good reason. The homeless that live there were given notices on Monday, December 1, to vacate by Thursday the 4th, or face jail. To be honest, the place is disgusting and they have no one to blame but themselves for bringing this on.

As you will see in the videos below, the place is a pigsty. I'm not talking about the structures they live in so much, it's the trash and the way they have treated the landscape. It's truly like living in a trash dump site and many of the residents there say it's smells just like one. Seriously, why would they NOT want to at least keep their trash picked up and make an attempt at living like a human being.

Hear me out. The city has let them get away with this for years. They have even offered trash service and used to pick up their trash, but the resident there never really used it, they just threw away their stuff around the area. At one point in the past, the city hauled out over 100 tons of garbage in a clean-up effort. Today, there is even more.

How long did they think this would last? I understand that people can be down on their luck, hard to find work, mental health issues etc., but it's no reason to live in a trash dump. Not even an effort to do something about the "human waste" issue and Coyote Creek is now just a running toilet and many of them bathe in it because there is running water.

One would think that after being allowed to live here for free they would have made an attempt to not bring this kind of attention themselves. How long did they think this would go unnoticed?
