Waylon, Willie, Johnny and Merle were a few of the original outlaws of country music. Those guys influenced so many of today's stars who continue to carry that outlaw torch. We know Eric Church may be the current president of outlaw country but his vice president could certainly be Jamey Johnson.

Jamey will be blowing out 41 candles on the cake today as he celebrates his birthday. He was born on this date in 1975 in Enterprise, Alabama. He wrote Trace Adkins monster smash "Honkytonk Badonkadonk" along with George Strait's "Give it Away" and many more hits for others. He has had his share of hits on his own too like the unforgettable "In Color" and "The High Cost of Living".  I was first knocked out by Jamey when I heard the song "The Dollar" about ten years ago. The lyrics to that song grabbed me and made me feel. That is the gift of a true songwriter.

Happy birthday Jamey. Here is some of his work to celebrate his big day. Thanks for the music, rebel.
