There seems to be a theme in country music. It's all about drinking and loving. Wait a minute. That has always been a main theme in country. The difference to me is the way it is done today. I feel somewhere along the line country lost a little class. We have always had songs about loving and drinking and the love of pretty ladies but it seems like we have gotten more blunt about it and less poetic.

Conway Twitty sang "I'd Love to Lay You Down" and we know what he meant by that but it was still respectful. Merle Haggard sang "Let's Chase Each Other Around the Room" and we know he was singing about loving too but there is something about the way things are presented today that just seem less classy than it used to be. We used to have songs that would poetically talk about the beauty of a woman's body and these days it has gotten down to "get that fine a@% up in the truck". There are too many "country girls shakin it for me" and less "I love the way you love me's" for my taste. There doesn't seem to be many new classy cowboys like George Strait's out there.

I know many will disagree and call me a grumpy old man. I ain't that old but will confess to being a bit grumpy. I just love and respect women and it seems like there is less of that in today's country lyrics than their used to be. There is still fantastic music being made, I just feel it has lost a little class. I was so glad to have Garth back. His new song is the kind of lyric that I feel we have been missing. Country music is in great shape and more popular today than ever. I would just like a little more class with my twang.

Maddie and Tae get what I am saying with their new video.
