Country music legend Dean Dillon, who has written hits for artists like George Strait, Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney and more, called into the 17th Annual 28 Hours of Hope — and said he couldn't have asked for a better birthday present.

Dillon, who has experienced a rough upbringing first hand, spoke with the Good Morning Guys as they neared the fourth hour of the 28-hour marathon, which raises money for local organizations fighting child abuse in Northern Colorado.

"In situations like this," he said, "You give people the opportunity to get through this, and as they live their lives, make sure that they don't carry that torch; that the torch they carry is one of love, and kindness and generosity."
