Back in March, news broke of a violent attack which tragically resulted in a Longmont woman who was seven months pregnant, having her baby cut from her womb by another woman, with whom she thought she was meeting up with to purchase maternity clothes from. The baby did not survive and the woman was seriously injured.Despite suffering this horrifically brutal experience, Michelle Wilkins of Longmont, is finding the strength and courage to move past the incident and share her story with others.

Although there is a gag order currently assigned to the case which limits what attorneys can say outside of court, Wilkins will be recounting the shocking ordeal that happened to her on the season premiere of the Dr. Phil Show airing Monday, September 14.  She has released public statements since the attack took place, but this will be her first interview.

In the segment, Wilkins describes how the attacker, Dynel Lane, lured her further into the house where they met, offering to sell her additional baby clothes after chatting for about an hour. Wilkins recalls a lava lamp being broken over her head and then the glass being used to stab her, and eventually slice the baby from her womb. Lane had premeditated plans to pass the baby off as her own. According to prosecutors, Wilkins said "I love you," to Lane, strongly believing that love motivates, in an effort to stop her attacker. Lane allegedly responded by saying that if Wilkins loved her, she would "let her do this." By sharing her story, Wilkins hopes to benefit others as well as taking steps in her own personal recovery. She describes her appearance on Dr. Phil's show as being a positive one, and that he treated her with dignity and respect.

Lane is being charged with attempted murder, multiple counts of assault, and unlawful termination of a pregnancy. She is being held at the Boulder County Jail on a $2 million bond. A two-week trial has been scheduled for February 2016. Since the incident, Wilkins has moved away from Longmont.

The premiere episode will air locally at 4 p.m. Monday on CBS.
