3D printers are all the rage nowadays.

On the international space station, they can print special tools that help them work on one of the most advanced examples of technology ever conceived of by humans.

A bit closer to home, a tortoise has a new, orange shell.

The lizards live a long time. Because of a poor diet for much of that existence, Cleopatra's shell was slowly wearing away, and that threatened to cause all kinds of health problems in the future. So, they decided to do something about it.

They had a new shell designed and printed on a 3D printer that would fit her, and allow her to play and interact with other tortoises and animals at the shelter. Canyon Critters Reptile Rescue in Golden had to take dozens of photos to create an accurate replica of the shell, but now, Cleopatra is walking around in style.
