Hats off once again to all the Colorado law enforcement officials planning a statewide torch run in May on behalf of Special Olympics-Colorado.

The event will be on Thursday, May 29 and I'm told the route this year will be the same as last year and follow the same route from the South in Frederick and Firestone to the North with everyone ending up at Island Grove Regional Park for a big BBQ.

All agencies and officers (family, friends, supporters) are welcome so please spread this news like wildfire with everyone you know in Law Enforcement. No need to be an all out athlete and even if you're just a walker, like me, you're still invited and encouraged to come out and participate in the last half mile of the Torch Run with the athletes in the 'slow-walker' portion.

The Colorado Special Olympic Games will again be held in Grand Junction so this is a good opportunity to raise awareness in Weld County for Special Olympics. If you have an interest in helping to plan and/or organize the Weld County Torch Run or just have questions, please contact Officer Dan Frazen (Greeley PD) with the Neighborhood Action Team (NAT) at 970-351-5360 or visit their Official Facebook Page.
