That was as close as you can get.

The Colorado Eagles facing an evenly matched Fort Wayne Komets needed a few miracles to overcome a 3-1 deficit with 8 minutes to go in the final period. The season and another shot at the Kelly Cup Championship were all that were on the line. No big deal, right? Apparently not. With 3:09 left in the game, Joey Ratelle put one away to tie the game. The game went into overtime (the third OT game of the series) where Ryan Olsen found the back of the net about 10 minutes into the extra frame. The Eagles won the game 4-3 and the series 4-3.

Their goal all season has been "defend the cup". The defending champion Colorado Eagles will enter the Kelly Cup Finals this Friday against the Florida Everblades. The 'Blades wrapped up their Eastern Conference Finals last Saturday by finishing off the Adirondack Thunder 4 games to 1. Florida is 12-2 this postseason. The Eagles and Everblades did not face each other during the regular season.

The Eagles have home ice advantage in the finals and will host game 1 tomorrow night. The puck drops at 7:05p.
